Workshop on Mental Health related to Drug and Alcohol Abuse

The Rotary Club of Kalimpong conducted a workshop on ‘Drug and Alcohol Abuse related to Mental Health’ in association with HANDS to welcome in the new Rotary year on the 1st of July. The venue was the Rotary Centre, Tapoban. It was a morning program. The workshop was attended by the Faculty Counsellors and peer leaders of the 6 Interact Clubs of RC Kalimpong viz Army Public School, Dr Graham’s Homes School, Rockvale Academy, Saptashri Gyanpeeth, St Augustine’s School and Vrindavan School. The resource persons were Nereus Mukhia, Program Coordinator of HANDS and Kustov Parajuli, Psychiatric Social Worker associated with the District Hospital. This workshop was also a project of the Health Preventive and Curative Committees of RCKalimpong. The workshop started with a PPT which was followed by an interactive session. The feedback received was that the peer leaders found it impactful and meaningful. All of them have been motivated to go back to their schools and to talk about this once taboo subject. The President, Secretary, Charter Member Rtn Pravakar Dewan and other Rotarians were in attendance.
