Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a program of Rotary International that focuses on improving Leadership and interpersonal skills of young adults. RC Darjeeling organized a camp for 102 students from Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, Mirik, Biratnagar, Kathmandu and Guwahati at Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) Darjeeling on Aug 2, 3 and 4.
The students were mixed so that they could come out of their comfort zones and make new friends. Sessions were conducted on Public Speaking, Goal Setting, Critical thinking, CPR, Caring for environment and more. They also were given yoga and rock climbing lessons. There was inter house quiz and talent show.
We hope we were able to help the children come out of their comfort zone, tackle stage fear, develop interpersonal and Leadership skills and have given memories to last for a long time in the 2.5 days camp.
