Cancer can often be prevented or successfully treated if diagnosed in its early stages. Keeping this in mind, the President and members of the Rotary Club of Silchar organized a Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp in collaboration with the Assam Cancer Care Foundation and the Silchar Cancer Centre. A large number of women from the surrounding areas and RCC Swambhara participated in the event.Dr. Aditi Chakraborty, Assistant Professor in the Department of Oncology at SMCH; Abhijit Bhattacharjee, Zonal Coordinator of Silchar Cancer Centre (SCC); Ms. Melody Singson, Staff Nurse at SCC; and Ms. Shilpi Biswas, Staff Nurse at SC, along with President Rtn Suramita Roy Podder, Service Chairman Rtn Dipak Das, IPP Rtn Debasish Chakraborty, Rtn Samir Bose, Rtn Ltfa Ara Chaudhary, and Rtn Suhan Ahmed Swapnil, were present at the program.
Dr. Aditi Chakraborty and Abhijit Bhattacharjee provided the audience with valuable information on various types of cancer, the causes, and the importance of early detection. Special emphasis was placed on breast cancer awareness, as October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Following the awareness session, all participating women were screened for both breast and cervical cancer by the medical staff and given appropriate guidance.
