World Environment Day

The Rotary Club of Gauhati South (RCGS) actively participated in World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 in collaboration with *Save Bharalu Abhiyan*. The day began with an awareness-cum-protest rally at 6:30 AM near Kali Mandir Sluice Gate, demanding the dismantling of the defunct gate to restore the natural flow of the Bahini river. A few symbolic tree plantations were also carried out along the roadside.At 9:00 AM, a brief program was held at Basisthanagar Vidyapeeth ME School, followed by an on-the-spot drawing/painting competition on the theme *“End Plastic Pollution”*. The competition, judged by artist members N.P. Das and Lakshyajit Borah, saw enthusiastic participation from students. The event concluded with prize distribution by 10:30 AM.
