Breastfeeding awareness

Today, in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), the Rotary Club of Silchar organized an Awareness Program on Breastfeeding to celebrate Breastfeeding Week (August 1st to 7th) on August 7, 2024, at Valley Hospital, Silchar.

The event was graced by Dr. Pinaki Chakraborty (SMCH), Dr. Nazrul Islam Barbhuiya (SMCH), Dr. Kirti Ranjan Dey, Rtn. Dr. D. J. Nath, Rtn. Suramita Roy Podder (President), Rtn. Sutapa Bhattacharjee (Asst Secretary ), Rtn. Dipak Das (Service Project Chair), and Rtn. Suhan Ahmed Swapnil. The doctors educated the audience on the benefits and importance of breastfeeding. President Suramita Roy Podder also addressed the social stigma and superstitions associated with breastfeeding, emphasizing its economic convenience, ease for mothers, and health benefits.

In addition, the management of Valley Hospital organized a poster-making competition among the nurses on the theme of the benefits of breastfeeding. Prizes were awarded to the creators of the three best posters on behalf of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), the Rotary Club of Silchar, and Valley Hospital Management.
