This project, launched by RC-Duliajan in 2016, is dedicated to empowering underprivileged women by providing vocational training in cutting and embroidery. Over the course of six months, from August to January, the program equips these women with the skills needed to improve their livelihoods, achieve self-reliance, and engage in sustainable business practices, contributing to the circular economy.
RCD’s initiative goes beyond just training; it also offers essential resources, including sewing machines, to enable deserving women to set up their own cutting and embroidery businesses. This support empowers them to run independent businesses, fostering economic independence and creating a sustainable model for their livelihoods.
To date, over 300+ women have been trained, and the project continues to thrive, proving its long-term sustainability and success. As RCD’s flagship initiative, it plays a crucial role in uplifting these women, not only by enabling them to earn a living but also by empowering them to become entrepreneurs who positively impact their communities. This training program remains a permanent and integral part of RCD’s commitment to social change and economic empowerment.
On 24th February 2025, during the official visit of DG, Rtn. Shukminder Singh, and First Lady, Ann Sumita Singh, a certificate distribution ceremony was held for the trainees. Additionally, two sewing machines were presented to a woman who has already established a cutting and embroidery unit in Duliajan, as well as to a promising trainee planning to start a unit in the same area. This gesture was aimed at motivating them and supporting their entrepreneurial endeavors. - RCC, Duliajan
