Naithok- yarn distribution among indigenous women

  • It’s wonderful to see RC Agartala City’s efforts to support traditional artisans and preserve the unique loin loom weaving technique, which is such an integral part of North East India’s cultural heritage. By distributing yarn to underprivileged indigenous women, RC Agartala City is not only helping to keep this rare art form alive but also empowering these artisans economically. This initiative addresses both the cultural preservation of traditional techniques and the need for sustainable livelihoods, especially as commercial machine-made garments have threatened the survival of handmade crafts. Continuing this project year after year shows a deep commitment to cultural preservation and community upliftment. This is a district grant prroject for the previous Rota year. We are trying to make it a sustainable project with the help of our partner Fit Bird India. Fit bird buy the products made by those beneficiaries and create a market to sell them and also provide them new set of yarn from the profit.

    Keep up the amazing work!
