National Doctor’s Day Celebration

On July 1st, the Rotary Club of Guwahati South (RCGS) celebrated National Doctors’ Day at East End Nursing Home, Bamunimaidam, Guwahati.

The program began with a welcome speech by IPP Chandan Rajkhowa, who spoke about the significance of National Doctors’ Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, and highlighted his immense contributions to the field of medicine in India.

This was followed by a speech by the President, Rtn Priyama Goswami, who appreciated the dedication of doctors and emphasized the importance of recognizing their relentless service to society.

As a mark of respect and gratitude, seven senior doctors were felicitated with a traditional Assamese Gamusa, a certificate, and gift hampers from both RCGS and Amul. The felicitations were carried out by senior Rotarians as follows:

- Dr. Nilutpal Das was felicitated by Rtn Minoti Borthakur
- Dr. Devashish was felicitated by IPP Rtn Chandan Rajkhowa
- Dr. R. L. Sarmah was felicitated by Rtn Gayatri Bhattacharyya
- Dr. Ujjal Chakravarty was felicitated by Rtn P. D. Chowdhury
- Dr. Santanu Borthakur was felicitated by Rtn Devajyoti Hazarika
- Dr. Ruplekha Chakravarty was felicitated by Rtn Manjushri Baruah
- Dr. Tridib Goswami was felicitated by Rtn Renu Goswami

Following the felicitations, Dr. Ujjal Chakravarty expressed his heartfelt gratitude to RCGS for organizing such a meaningful celebration of Doctors’ Day and for honouring the contributions of medical professionals. He thanked the club on behalf of all the doctors present.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Ruplekha Chakravarty, who warmly acknowledged the efforts of the Rotary Club and all participants for making the event special and memorable.
