NIRMALI KAKATI MEMORIAL VOCATIONAL AWARD

The award ceremony was started with lighting of lamp by the chief guest Mr. Pronoy Bordoloi, the eminent journalist and other senior Rotarians including PDG Rtn. Prabhat Kedia . This was followed by invocation by Rtn. Dipanwita Ghosh . After this MOC introduced the chief Guest of the function. The awards, which are given annually, are the Archana and Atul Chandra Goswami Memorial Award for a visually impaired student and the Deva Kanta Kakati and Nirmali Kakati Memorial Vocational Excellence Awards. The Archana and Atul Chandra Goswami Memorial Award was conferred on Diganta Nath, a student of Class X of Sankar Mission Blind School, Nagaon, for his proficiency in music. After the award was conferred by the chief guest , Mr. Nath presented a beautiful song. After his performance Mr. Ritu Raj Das, another visually impaired awardee of RCGS in earlier occasion shared his successful journey on his field after getting recognition from RCGS and expressed his gratitude to RCGS for showing the path for a successful journey. The Deva Kanta Kakati award was conferred on Sri Jayanta Kumar Das of Udalguri for his commendable work in the field of environment and wildlife preservation, more particularly, in the pursuit of advocating the initiative among children and youth of Udalguri and the neighbouring Regions. The Nirmali Kakati Award was conferred on Dr. Sriparna Bhuyan Baruah for encouraging and motivating entrepreneurship and livelihood amongst women. Both the vocational awardees spoke in detail about their successful journey. Rtn. Prabhat Kedia spoke on the occasion and shared the mottos and principles of Rotary for betterment of the society. The Chief Guest Mr. Pronoy Bordoloi expressed his pleasure to know about the initiative of the club for recognizing the unsung heroes of the society. He also shared his experience in adventure sports e.g. Mountaineering and has captivated the audience with his interesting and challenging moments. Sri Bordoloi also stressed the importance of maintaining a positive outlook on life and stated that anything is achievable with determination.
