The Rotary Club of Gauhati South gave away the Nation Builder Awards to 22 teachers from 12 government/government-aided schools of Guwahati at a very well-attended function held at Hotel Rajdhani Regency on 20th September 2024. The Nation Builder Awards are an important component of the Rotary India Literacy Mission along with other verticals of the TEACH programme. The president all the meeting to order at 6.30 PM
The function was presided over by the President of the club, Rtn Dr. Chandan Rajkhowa who gave the welcome address. Rtn Dr. Anjana Saikia Choudhury, Chair, of the Literacy Committee of the club, outlined the objectives of the Awards. Dr Niroda Devi, former Principal of Cotton College and current Director, of SCERT, was the Chief Guest while Smti Dipika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools (Kamrup Metro) and District Elementary Education Officer, (Kamrup Metro), and District Mission Co-ordinator, Samagra Shiksha, (Kamrup Metro), graced the occasion as the distinguished Guest. AG Rtn Pranjal Mena of Zone X of rotary district 3240 as guest of honour and PDG Rtn Prabhat Kedia were also present as invited guests. Both Dr Niroda Devi and Smt Dipika Choudhury emphasized the decisive role of teachers in grooming young minds and moulding students by imparting value-based education. They also recognized the important role of organisations like Rotary in motivating teachers and coming forward to provide the necessary infrastructure in many institutions. The principals and headmasters were also present during the meeting. After giving the details. of Statistics of the .meeting by secretary Rtn. Priyama Goswami the formal Vote of thanks was offered by Rtn Dr. Gayatri Goswamee. The meeting was adjourned at 8.30 PM There were 28 Rotarians, 7 Annes, 45 Roteractors, Visiting Rotarian 2 and 45 Guests, Rotarylets 2, Rotaractor 1 . Total 85 attendees.
