The National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, to address the intersection of climate change and public health. It is part of India's broader National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), which consists of several missions focusing on different aspects of climate change.

The NPCCHH aims to build adaptive capacities in the health sector to deal with the challenges posed by climate change. It focuses on understanding the health impacts of climate change, improving preparedness, and reducing vulnerability, especially among populations at higher risk.

The program emphasizes raising awareness about the health impacts of climate change among the general population and vulnerable communities. It promotes public health campaigns to encourage adaptive behaviors, such as adopting preventive measures against heat stress and vector-borne diseases.

The National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health is a vital component of India's response to the dual challenges of climate change and public health. By focusing on vulnerable populations, capacity building, and inter-sectoral coordination, the program aims to mitigate the health impacts of climate change and enhance the resilience of the healthcare system. However, continuous efforts are needed to address the existing challenges and ensure the program's long-term success.
