WORLD ELEPHANT DAY

  • World Elephant Day 2024 is celebrated on August 12th. This date is marked on calendars worldwide as a time to honor elephants and spread awareness about the conservation efforts needed to protect them. People have coexisted with elephants for thousands of years, but boundaries, development activities, the climate, and natural resources are changing, putting pressure on us and them.

    In its endeavours to support Environment, Rotary Club of Digboi is organised a webinar in association with Department of Zoology, Digboi College and NSS unit, Digboi College. The meeting was graced by Sri TC Ranjith Ram, IFS, DFO as the Chief Guest and Rtn Rajib Rudra Tariang, HOD , Department of Zoology, Digboi College was the guest speaker and spoke on "Personifying prehistoric beauty, theological relevance, and environmental importance with reference to Mitigation Measures of Human-Elephant Conflict".
    Rtn Rajib R Tariang also holds the Environment Chair of RC Digboi. The meet was attended by students of Zoology. Meeting was moderated by Rtn Bikram Baruah and Vote of thanks offered by Rtn Satyakam Dowerah.
