World Environment Day

  • On 5th June, the Rotary Club of Siliguri Uttorayon Believers celebrated World Environment Day by promoting potters and discouraging the use of unhealthy plastic bottles and containers. As we know, the old practice of drinking water from an earthen pot is healthy and hygienic, and they are natural purifiers and prevent sunstroke and dehydration. During this hottest month of the year, we distributed eco-friendly earthen pots, focusing on activities aimed at promoting sustainability and ecological awareness. The event saw active participation from around a hundred women and men workers who were provided with eco-friendly earthen pots. Alongside the distribution, attendees received valuable information on preserving our only earth and protecting natural resources. In a symbolic gesture to foster greenery, members of our club planted saplings of fruits for village people in the land and showed plants in pots contributing to the greenery of their community. Additionally, the club distributed paper boxes of fruit juice as a sustainable alternative to plastic, further emphasizing their commitment to reducing environmental impact.
The program was well organized by the project chairperson, Rtn. Anita Goyal, with the full support of Treasurer Rtn. Anju Sarda and Charter President Rtn. Kiran Kayan in the presence of President Rtn. Anita Mittal, incoming president Rtn. Rosy Prasad, and club members, including guests. The program ended with fellowship by the club.
